Subject Rapid/dynapower 12V 4000A dc plating power supply 48KW
Rapid Power Technologies / Dynapower 48kW DC Plating Power Supply, 12 VDC @ 4000 A
Comes with what you see in the pictures. If you don't see it, you probably wont get it.
Specifications are from Rapid Power/Dynapower and may vary slightly due to upgrades, options, or revisions this unit may or may not have.
List Price is: $15,994.00 Approx. from Rapid Power / Dynapower NEW with an 8 - 10 week delivery time.
The Unit's Serial Number Tag Reads:
AC Input Rating: 480 V, 82 A, 60 Hz, 3-Phase
DC Output Rating: 12 V, 4000 A, 48 kW, Continuous Duty
AC Starting Equipment: Each rectifier will be equipped with an electromagnetic contactor to disconnect the main transformer and other components from the AC source when open. This device will be automatically operated by the start/stop buttons on the rectifier to turn the unit on and off.
Rating: All units are rated at 100% continuous full load output at 40°C Ambient, maximum altitude of 3,300 feet.
Heat Sinks: The thyristors are mounted on extruded finned aluminum heatsinks, manufactured to Rapid's exact specification. The mounting surfaces for the semiconductors are micro-machined to a 65 micron flatness, and thin layer of silicon grease is applied for optimum heat transfer. Rapid's conservative design presents 30% more surface area for reliable performance at high ambient temperatures.
Thyristor (SCR) Rectifier Unit: Thyristor (SCR) portion of the unit is cooled by once through, forced air, cooling system. Thyristors are connected to the secondary of the power isolation transformer, thus affording maximum protection from voltage transients and electrical noise.
The Thyristors are mounted on extruded aluminum heat sinks. The Thyristor is never operated at more than 80% of its maximum average current rating and if parallel devices are used, forced sharing of current is provided.
Electronic Controls: Rapid Power Corporation designs and manufactures its own electronic printed-circuit boards. Their quality assurance program includes complete testing and "burn in" of every board prior to installation. The latest CMOS integrated circuits insure reliable and efficient performance. All Rapid rectifiers have the following standard features:
Constant Current Control: The accuracy of the current regulator is ± 1.0% from 10% to full load with automatic crossover to voltage control when the voltage demand of the load exceeds the voltage-control setpoint.
Constant Voltage Control: The accuracy of the voltage regulator is ± 1.0% from 10% to full load with automatic crossover to current control when the current demand of the load exceeds the current-control setpoint.
Peak Current Detector: The electronics continually monitors output current. If a short occurs on the output of the rectifier, a peak limiting circuit takes action and instantaneously limits the output current to 200% of rating. Then within 100 ms, the current returns to the preset current within the regulation accuracy.
Firing Circuit: Digital timing logic includes a phase locked loop developed by Rapid for high-power converters. This approach provides excellent gate pulse spacing for precise phase balance. The circuit is highly immune to power line distortion such as harmonics, communication notching, etc. A unique feature of our firing circuit is its phasing programmability. This allows the unit to be used in any power circuit configuration. The output pulse to the SCR is the "hard fire" type, with a high leading edge spike for precise turn-on, and a "back porch" for reliable firing into an inductive load. The gate outputs are monitored by LED's.
Interlock: The regulator board includes inhibit functions interfacing with automated lines. A simple contact closure across the terminals will cause the output to go to zero.
Phase Balance: A monitoring circuit watches the output wave shape continuously. Should there be a problem with the incoming power, the output of the rectifier will be inhibited and an LED will indicate a loss of phase.
Response Time Program: Each application has its own special load characteristics. A unique Rapid feature allows the dynamic response of the regulation to be programmed through the use of DIP switches.
Regulation Detector: An LED indicates when the rectifier is not able to regulate. This condition may occur if the input voltage to the rectifier is too low.
Controls: Each rectifier includes a PVC remote control panel with the following:
* Analog voltmeter (This doesn't seem to be configured in)
* Analog ammeter (This doesn't seem to be configured in)
* 270° voltage-control potentiometer
* 270° current-control potentiometer
* Start/Stop Pushbutton (This doesn't seem to be configured in)
* Integral controls available upon request
Protection: All Rapid rectifiers have a multi-layered protection scheme, which includes:
* Thyristor over temperature sensors on each phase (3 total)
* Transformer over temperature sensors on each coil (3 total)
* Electronic peak current detector
* Electronic phase imbalance detector
* Current limiting fuses in each primary phase
Construction: The frame is constructed from heavy-duty formed steel welded together to form a strong foundation. All panels and screens are manufactured with high quality steel, coated with a corrosion resistant finish.
Cooling Air: Equipment includes fans. Flow is updraft. A minimum of 2.5 feet clearance is required above, in front and in the rear of the rectifier to keep back pressure to a minimum.
AC Input: 480 V, 3 Phase, 60 Hz
DC Output: 0 to 12 VDC, 0 to 4000 Amperes
Efficiency: Approximately 88% at full rated output current and voltage
Regulation: ± 1% Voltage or Current
Ripple: Unfiltered. The ripple content will be consistent with that of a 6 pulse power supply which inherently contains by design < 5% AC RMS ripple at rated Voltage and Current with a resistive load.
Estimated Dimensions: 39" x 27" x 60" H
