3 Cylinder Lombardini Diesel Three Phase Generator - 265 Hrs.
This generator is a high frequency 400 (Hz) cycles per second unit. 120/208 V or 240/416 V three-phase, four-wire.
Air Cooled. Appears to be in Like New Condtion to the eye.
This ex-military diesel generator is a stationary remote start unit. The Lombardini generator has an air cooled diesel engine; without control cables in place the only way we found to start the engine was to jump it, so we did; it started easily and ran strong. It has so few hours (265 on the meter, please see pictures) that the original filters are still in place, we removed the original tags from them. When we removed the air cleaner bracket we could see inside the engine - it was SUPER clean.
The generator is cooled by pulling air into the red intake vents (please see photos) and then venting it out the large exhaust stack on the back of the generator (please see photos).
The generator is a "slide out" unit. There are nylon tracks that are bolted to the frame (this is difficult to see in the photos, the tracks are on the bottom of the unit) that allow you to mount the base in place, when maintenance is needed you simply pull the generator out - much the same as opening a drawer. In addition, there is nothing on the bottom of the unit that needs to be maintained, the generator is designed so that all normal maintenance can be performed from the front. It even has built-in drain chutes for the fuel and oil systems. When you drain the oil or fuel it flows down the chute to a valve and pipe plug near the frame that you open to drain, the fluid flows into your container instead of all over the side of the engine.
The engine is mounted using rubber isolation mounts to limit engine vibration, the flexible stainless steel exhaust is mounted to the frame. It is extremely well balanced as a single unit to reduce vibration while running.
On the side of the unit is the control box which contains the connectors for such things as fuel pressure; oil temperature; starter solenoid as well as other engine functions; all are made of small gauge wire. The way in which the generator is set up now all electrical connections are inside the control box, including connections for gauges, AC and DC current. It also houses a 24 Volt 110 Amp outlet. It contains a suprisingly large amount of wires that control all of the generator and engine functions through small relays mounted at the rear of the box, none of which will work without control cables being hooked up - all functions of the engine and generator are cut off without them, even the starter solenoid. Therefore we were not able to get readings on anything. We are attempting to locate a schematic of the system on the internet as well as engine manuals from Lombardini.
