The SlipStickr, a single axis measuring machine designed for sheet metal parts, is fast, easy to use and affordable. The SlipStickr measures both absolute and incremental distances over a range of 0-40 inches with 0.001 inch accuracy. Longer units measuring 0-120 inches and larger are also available.
Using an extremely durable encoder and digital readout, the SlipStickr enhances quality control programs by bringing them to the shop floor.
This allows quality measurements to be taken by operators and inspectors in shearing, punching, forming, welding and inspection.
The SlipStickr can be used for a wide variety of measurements, including length/width, hole-to-hole on centers, bend-to-bend, squareness and many more.
The human factor can be a problem when using hand held measurement devices such as calipers, tape measures and height gauges. The SlipStickr reduces those concerns considerably.
All plant personnel can learn to operate the easy-to-use SlipStick" in a matter of minutes. To measure the length of a part, the operator simply places it on the table up against the reference bar and then slides the gauge pin against the part. The measurement is immediately displayed on the digital readout, which is conveniently located just below eye level.
Adjustment of the zero point anywhere along the slide takes only a moment. This allows the user to measure deviation of hole-to-hole distances from either the centers or edges of the holes. Deviation measurements speed up the operation by allowing the operator to either accept or reject a part based on a tolerance range of +/- .002 inches, for instance, rather than an absolute range of 18.998 - 19.002 inches.
When measuring hole-to-hole distances, the hole to be measured is placed over the spring loaded conical pin, pressed down against the table surface and is moved to the reference bar. The digital readout is then reset to zero. The second hole is now placed over the conical pin and the part is moved to the reference bar. The digital readout is now displaying the distance between the two holes.
