This is an unmarked dual-electrode probe that does not come with a user manual or original packaging. I do not know what its original application is. It is rugged, heavy-duty and very high quality. Probe is used and in excellent functional condition. I checked and continuity is fine between the probe electrodes and connector pins. The probe has a heavy sliding slam handle in the middle, very similar to a car dent puller tool. This is so you can drive the probe through tough materials with just the right force and no need for a hammer to pound it in. Only the exposed ends of the electrodes are conductive, so measurements are made only between the electrode tips.
This device is very versatile. It can be used to measure something at the electrode end and/or to deliver electrical power or electronic signal to the electrode end, depending upon the equipment you have it connected to. I do not think that it is used on soil, but perhaps to penetrate something tough but relatively uniform like animal hides, tree bark, etc. The probe is clean and free of odors so I have no idea how it was previously used or how much used.
The probe's PL-259 connector is the same connector type used in many, especially older, CB radios, and is found on some electronic test equipment. A BNC adapter is also provided to connect it up to many types of test equipment and signal generators with BNC connectors. Cable is 3' 8" long. Electrodes are about 1/16" thick steel, 1-1/8" long and 1" apart. Electrodes are screwed ON and can be replaced with the same type of electrodes or with other electrodes which will fit.
Probe looks cosmetically very good except for a few scruff marks on body opposite side of cable feed. Probe is about 12-1/4" long and 1-3/4" dia. CAUTION: Electrode tips are pointed and sharp, so please handle with care.
