Dow Junction Box Potting Gel for Solar Panels/Cells
Dow 3-4222 Dielectric Firm Gel is used to pot junction boxes and other sensitive electrical components.To mix you push down on both pistons and the two liquids mix in a spiral.However,this rarely works that well and usually ends up in an incomplete cure.Best thing to do is pour the contents of both tubes in a clean bowl and mix for ten minutes with a glass rod.One of these kits will fill 8 small cavity junction boxes like the MC K2 or 4 of the larger MC Sunbox.
Use this to completely shield your junction boxes from condensation,insect interference and corrosion.
Once you have opened this kit,use all of it,the blue side will turn to a gel upon contact with any amount of air within 18 hours.Cure time for this is 12 minutes at 80F,use a heat gun to help it and the final set will be light green.
This product is specifically made for the photovoltaics industry but can be used for any semiconductor potting job and/or experiment.You can also inject a black dye if the aim is to keep proprietary components protected from reverse engineering.
