Offered here are 20 Luxeon LED’s packed on cut tape. These are 3 watt white lambertian LED’s. The Bin is TX0K, These have not been used and come in the original carrier tape. A copy of the reel lable is included. Date of manufacture is 29 Mar. 2006.
LUXEON® III LEDs, the industry's most widely used high-power LEDs, deliver leading performance and value that enable lighting designers and engineers to develop applications at significantly lower costs, speeding the migration from conventional lamps to solid-state technology.
With its rugged package design, superior thermal management and zero-stress encapsulation system, LUXEON® III is a clear technical and performance leader.
LXHL-PW09 60 lumens @700mA 80 lumens @ 1A
* Produces up to 80 Lumens of White light
* More energy efficient than incandescent and most halogen lamps
* Instant light (less than 100 ns turn-on time)
* Cool beam, safe to the touch
* Up to 100,000 hour lifespan
TIPS FOR PLAYING WITH HIGH OUTPUT LED’s
1) It is always necessary to provide some sort of heatsink when using these LED’s. I use a piece of aluminum or copper slug to provide a thermal mass and dissipate the heat. There are several good heatsinks available on the retail market as well. When building flashlights, the flashlight body, if thermally conductive, makes a great heatsink. Maglight bodies are excellent fort his.
2) It is best to thermally bond the LED to the heatsink. I use a two part compound- Locktite 383. There are other materials that are available that work very well.
3) The heatsink must be electrically isolated from the power leads, this is especially important when mounting more than one LED to the same heatsink.
4) These type of LED's require a driver circuit, you can't just hook them up to batteries
