This Antique Hay Seeder , was Re-Conditioned by Me . A neighbor Lady , did the Sewing & Lettering . The Original Bag was kept for Antique Collectors varification . This Seeder Was Patented in 1925 The Blue denium Pouch / Storage Hopper, was duplicated right down to the Shoulder Strap . The original lettering was done in Black on White canvas. OUR REPLACEMENT IS DENIUM BLUE GEAN QUALITY. Our lettering was done in White Paint. This Sower could be used for seeding Grain & Hay Seeds . The Seeder is Hand operated by a Small Hand Crank , it turns a flat Disc with raised fan like blades that catch the grain/seeds as it's metered on to the revolving wheel . The fast wheel speed then throwes the seeds back & forth in front of the operator , who walks forward while turning the seeder crank . This Tool is well crafted utilising wood , tin and canvas.. The wod was painted RED when new , I didn't Re-paint this Item, it's original ! The Shoulder Strap ,helps Distrubte the weight of the Seed in the Sack . It wouldn't be unusal for the seeding Operator to seed a 10 acre field in one day. Just walking back & forth can be tireing & add the weight of this Seeded with a loaded Pouch. I suspect most Seeders went to bed early TIRED.
