HP 8664A Signal Generator, 100 kHz - 6 GHz w/ opt. 004 (Low Phase Noise) and opt. 010 (Reduced RF Leakage Config)
* Description: The HP (Agilent) 8665B signal generator is suited for basic receiver testing up to 6 GHz. With Option 004 (low-noise enhancement), it can be used for out-of-channel receiver testing or as a clock source where having the lowest phase jitter is important. Radar testing can be done by adding Option 008 (pulse modulation) . Pulse width and delay can be internally adjusted between 50 ns and 999 ns, eliminating the need for an external pulse generator. Standard FM rates of up to 2 MHz and deviations to 20 MHz are suitable for many applications such as high-speed digital communications. The internal modulation source generates sine, square, triangle or sawtooth waveforms. For applications demanding the lowest RF leakage, Option 010 provides increased RF shielding. The HP 8665B is ideal for receivers with ≥ 90 dB selectivity and spurious immunity (w/ option 004) of < 85 dB to 6 GHz. Primary features and specifications of the HP / Agilent 8665B include:
* Low SSB Phase Noise: <-140 dBc/Hz typical SSB phase noise at 20 kHz offset at 1 GHz with Option 004
* <-100 dBc nonharmonic spurious to 2 GHz reduces error when testing spurious immunity of receivers
* AM, FM, and optional pulse modulation
* 0.01 Hz frequency resolution
* Low distortion sinewaves to 400 kHz with variable phase and amplitude.
* Triangle, sawtooth and squarewaves to 50 kHz with variable phase and amplitude.
* White Gaussian noise with variable amplitude.
* Two independent sources for two-tone testing.
* Typical rates to 5 MHz with 2 MHz of deviation, or rates to 800 kHz with 10 MHz of deviation (fc > 1500 MHz) allows testing of most wideband receivers.
* Excellent FM linearity is inherent due to YIG oscillator design.
* Stable dc-coupled FM for measurements that require low carrier drift.
* High stability oven controlled timebase is standard.
* Surface mount construction for improved reliability.
* Three year calibration cycle (MTBC) means less time in the calibration lab.
* Built-in self-diagnostics and calibration saves valuable time by significantly reducing down time.
* Working Condition: Presumed Good but untested. However, FREE calibration can be included (see below).
