3M Dynatel 965TD DOS Terminal Emulation Test Set
Comes with a 900TD Series Test Set manual, Dynatel 900 Series Test Set manual, new batteries and what you see in the pictures. If you don't see it, you probably wont get it.
Specifications are from Dynatel and may vary slightly due to upgrades, options or revisions this unit may or may not have.
The 900TD Series Test Sets with DOS/terminal emulation have the same testing capabilities as the non-terminal test sets. The terminal emulation option adds a QWERTY-type (touch-typists, typewriter style) programmable keyboard, larger display screen, and full duplex communications through its internal modem. Battery backed-up RAM (random-access memory) provides test data storage.
Through a tip-ring connection to a working or dial-tone line, the unit's modem can dial to a telephone company computer and connect to it as a terminal. Technicians in the field can then use the test set/terminal to:
* Connect to various operating systems for performing tests;
* Transmit data to host computers; and
The unit contains two completely independent computer systems: a test processor, and a DOS processor compatible with the XT series of personal computers.
The 900TD Series Test Set comes in a sturdy yellow plastic case. A large LCD features a backlight, and displays sixteen lines of forty characters each.
The front-panel keyboard is divided into two sections. The left side of the keyboard is used primarily when opearting in terminal mode. In terminal mode, the keys generally control at least two functions - either a second character or a function indicated above the key. The second character or function is activated by pressing nad releasing the Fn key before pressing the desired key.
Internal Modem Specifications:
Serial I/O Rate: 300, 1200, and 2400 bps
Transmitter Output: -10 dBm +/- 1 dBm
Receiver dynamic range: -6 dBm to -43 dBm
Equalizers: Adaptive equalization with auto-retrain for 2400 bps option
Modulation mode: CCITT V.22bis 2400 and 1200 bps full-duplex asynchronous Bell 212A, 1200 bps full-duplex asynchronous Bell 103, 300 bps full-duplex asynchronous
Command Set: Hayes Smartmodem 2400 AT-compatible
External RS-232 Interface Specifications:
Serial I/O Rates: 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200 bps (note that IBM PC/XT guarantees operation up to 9600 baud only)
Input/Output Interface: EIA-232-D driver and receivers
Data signals: Transmitted data on green lead, received data on yellow lead; ground on red lead, black lead not used.
Specifications for the Regular Non-Terminal 965:
Tolerance to Leakage, Normal Mode:
> 15K Ohm to ground / 190K Ohm to battery
Tolerance to Leakage, Special Mode:
> 1200 Ohms to ground / 18K Ohms to battery
during Loss, single frequency only
Perform a self-calibration before taking the readings
C-message specifications have an additional frequency dependent tolerance. Refer to "IEEE Standard 743-1984." The 965 far exceeds these tolerances. For most frequencies the total error is less than 0.7 dB.
Resistance Fault Locator Specifications:
Resistance to Feet Conversion Resolution:
7VAC limit for all frequencies
All resistance to fault measurement accuracies have an added factor of (2x10-8) RF Ohms
Single pair hook-up measurement accuracy is strictly dependent on whether the reference pair is exactly the same electrical length as the faulted pair. Accuracies are doubled for single pair hook-up.
Accuracy depends on correct temperature setting as well as gauge accuracy of copper. The temperature can be read by the built-in sensor or can be operator-entered.
100 Ohms (Current limited to 6 mA)
< 45 dB (up to 10th harmonic)
< 45 dB (up to 10th harmonic)
meets CCITT Q.23 Standard for frequency and amplitude
Environmental Specifications:
Temperature: 0° to +140°F Operating, -40° to 165°F Storage
Humidity: 0 to 100% (condensing)
Altitude: 0 to 15,000 feet Operating, 0 to 40,000 feet Storage
Shock: Can withstand a drop onto a wood surface from a distance of approximately four feet
