One of the most neglected areas of maintenance on most machine tools is the felt wipers that keep the ways of the machine clean of grit and contaminants. It is also one of the most important to the life expectancy of your pride and joy. Metal shavings, swarf, and grinder dust wear the precision surfaces, and greatly affect the accuracy of your work. While most good machine tool dealers can supply you with factory made wipers, they are expensive, and have a limited life span.
