6" x 3 3/4" x 0.04" Sheet (Plate)
1. Lot Includes: one rectangular Ta sheet, as shown from both sides!
3. Description: this is a 8.2 oz. (235 g) piece of annealed pure unalloyed tantalum metal that comes from a Diode (Di) TiTan element of an Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) Ion Getter Pump (IGP) by Gamma Vacuum, previously known as Perkin Elmer - Physical Instruments - Ultek, a really nice piece that can be reused in an ion pump, or have other multiple uses . The Ta metal content is >99.8%. This Ta sheet was manufactured in the United States.
A very hard, heavy, gray metallic element that is exceptionally resistant to chemical attack below 150°C. It is used to make light-bulb filaments, electrolytic capacitors, lightning arresters, nuclear reactor parts, and some surgical instruments. The element has a melting point exceeded only by tungsten and rhenium. Tantalum has the most capacitance per volume of any substance.
Origin / Meaning of the name Tantalum
The name originates from King Tantalus, the father of Niobe, in Greek mythology.
Classification of the Tantalum Element
Electronic components - capacitors
Automotive electronics, jet engine components
Chemical process equipment / electrolysis electrodes
Perchlorates/Chlorates/ nuclear reactors
Camera lenses/ portable telephones/ pagers
Personal computers, surgical appliances
