Subject lead safety container for radioactive substances
Lead safety container (pig) for small quantities of radioactive material used in research.
It is made of pure lead and has two parts: container itself and a lid which serves as an extension of the container.
The total dimesions of a closed container are 100 mm x 63 mm. Total weight 6 pounds 1 ounce
The container itself has height 75 mm with the walls 12 mm. the inner diameter is ~39 mm. The depth is 60 mm including the bottom square nest measuring 25mm x 25mm x 5mm. The lid is 25 mm high with the walls 15 mm thick. It has an inner 5mm high rim which fits inside the well of the larger part of teh container and also. the lid has a well ~15mm deep.
It is made of solid lead and has no coating. Thus, as the lead oxidizes, holding the container in your hands may leave some dark (dirty) staining on the skin
Used to transport the isotopes of S35, P32, P33, I125 and some others.
It is clean, the wipes are taken and shown normal background. Good to store isotopes, small radioactive minerals or Geiger counter calibration standards.
